Before diving in and applying, only to find out too late that you do not qualify, here are a few quick answers to common questions about selling at the Emmett Farmers Market (EFM). If you think you do qualify, then continue with these steps:
What about Sales Tax?
I’m ready to sign up as a vendor at the EFM.
“In Idaho, an establishment that offers Time/Temperature Control for Safety Foods (TCS) must be licensed by the local regulatory authority. This includes, but is not limited to, restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, institutions, mobile food trucks/carts, temporary event vending, processors, caterers. If you are unsure if your operation is required to be licensed or believe your product is a low risk/cottage food, please see the section below or contact Southwest District Health.”

A. You must have a valid seller’s permit, collect 6% sales tax, file a sales and use tax return, and forward the amount of sales collected to the Idaho State Tax Commission when you sell goods in Idaho. You also need to register for the Event with the ISTC. Step-by-step directions are under the Resources tab on this website.
